LIFE EXPERIENCE CREDIT

What is Life Experience?

We value your experience, and at VCBCS, that experience can translate into college credits! If you have work/ministry experience, seminar or workshop training, or non-credit classes, you may be eligible if you can document your experience and articulate what you learned!


Undergraduate students can be assessed for up to 60 credits towards a degree.
Graduate students can be awarded up to 9 credits.

1. Confirm Eligibility

  • At least 5 years of demonstrated skills and experience beneficial to their field of study.

  • Provide a Life Experience Portfolio.

  • Provide 3 letters of reference.

  • Has never received equivalent credit for Life Experience in any other degree program.

2. Gather Supporting Documents

Prior to submitting your application, the following supporting documents will be needed. We suggest gathering the following in preparation to attach

them to your application:​

 

  • Copies of Transcripts

  • Copies of Certificates & Awards achieved.

  • 3 Letters of Reference

  • Brief Academic Resume

  • Brief Personal Resume (including employment history)

  • Any other documents which support the areas you wish to be evaluated by the Board.

3. Complete Application Process

  • Submit a Life Experience Credit Application with all supporting documents.

  • ​Pay the Life Experience Credit Evaluation fee of $150.

  • ​Application is reviewed by the Executive Board who may request additional information or documentation.

  • ​The Board may require an interview with the applicant, conducted through phone or video conference.

  • Upon acceptance, pay the life experience tuition fee of $45 per credit hour awarded.
